SafeDial is the new service for sellers from LocalAds to protect and secure your privacy and prevent fraud, scam and abuse in relation to your listing with us. Please find below all relevant information to this new service.

SafeDial will translate your existing telephone number into a new, geographically independant number on which potential buyers can reach you. The creation of this number is totally free and you can deactivate the number at any time.


SafeDial helps protect your security and significantly reduces the likelihood that you will be the target of a Scam or Fraud attempt.

How does SafeDial work?
SafeDial will convert your number, which can be any UK landline or UK mobile number, into an independant, new 070 number. This number is geographically not trackable and can be deactivated as soon as your ad is sold or expires. Potential buyers will call on this new number istead of your real telephone number and will get forwarded to the destination number you specified when listing the ad. This prevents your real telephone number from being published and allows you to cut all incoming calls as soon as your ad expires.

How much does SafeDial cost?
SafeDial is free to use for sellers. The conversion of your old number into a new, independant is done automatically when you place your ad. The caller will be charged slightly more for the call than he/she would be for a call to your real landline or mobile number.

How much does SafeDial cost for the caller?
All calls are charged on a per second basis at the standard BT rate of 35 pence per minute at all times.

Do I have to use SafeDial?
No, SafeDial is an additional feature to help you secure your privacy when advertising with LocalAds. We still offer our traditional secure email system for those who do not want to be called.

How do I create my SafeDial number?
The easiest way to create your number is while you place an ad. Simply check the box "SafeDial" and enter your desired destination number (that's the number that should ring when somebody calls with regards to your listing). As soon as you save your listing, LocalAds will automatically convert the number for you.

Alternatively, you can also create numbers through your personal section under "MyAccount".

Can I change my destination number?
Of course you can. This is also done through the SafeDial administration in "MyAccount". However, changing your destination number can result in the allocation of a new SafeDial number. This new number will automatically be added to all your existing listings.

Can I havemore than one SafeDial number?
At the moment every user can only have one SafeDial number. We are still improving the system and soon multiple numbers will be available.

How about a mailbox on my SafeDail number?
Currently the number offers only direct forwarding. A mailbox will be offered as soon as the system is flly incorporated into LocalAds.

How do I remove/dete/deactivate my SafeDial number?
Simply delete your number in the SafeDial administration in "MyAccount". When you delete a number, all your existing listings will automatically be changed to secure email contact so users can still get in touch with you.
