There are several different scams to watch out for but all are basically to do with overpayment for your goods. The following are example emails sent out by scammers. This list is not exhaustive by any means.
Example I
Hi,
Thank for the mail. The price of £1600 is okay with me. Hope it is
in good condition. I am British citizen currently working in America
with my family. I'll pay you with a UK cheque this I will arrangement with
my business partner,who is in Europe,to send a cheque of £5000 to
you,and wait for the clearance before the pick up arrangement. Concerning
the shipping arrangement,my shipping company will come for the pick up
once the transaction has been sealed. Once the cheque is cleared which is
usually within 3-5 days, you'll deduct the price charged,and help me
send the remaining funds to my shipper the same day the cheque clears
which serve as shipping charges to my shipper for the pick up arrangement
at your location. I'm compensating you with £100 for the running around
expenses in the transaction.
